RIPE
This hand knit lamp, made from copper wire and cotton, was inspired by Ruth Asawa’s crochet sculptures and Ernst Haeckel’s illustrations. I designed a lace pattern that would create 3 dimensional shape as well as intricate shadows. Using wire and yarn together creates an unique fabric that is flexibly firm and both hard and soft at the same time.
Displayed at ICFF 2016 in Philadelphia University's "3D Textiles" booth.
